In True Human Form

Standard

God,

My brain is already frazzled by 7:19 am on a Sunday morning. Instead of spending time with You, I have paid some bills, done the dishes, shopped for lipstick, and made an overwhelming list of to-do’s.

I have successfully speed-raced (“sped-raced” for past tense?) through my numerous, bounding thoughts, attempting to get more done, more faster (now I know that’s not right), and more efficiently. Forgive me as I attempt a restart…

How are You God? Who and what’s on Your mind? Is there anything I can do to help You today? The very idea that I could be of any help to You, the Creator of the universe, is pretty weird to me; but as I type, I’m reminded that I am Your hands and feet. Wait, am I Your brain too? Surely not.

We are to have the mind of Christ, I know, but this surely ain’t yours (I’m just gonna roll with the grammatical and linguistic errors today).

Philippians 2:5-8… “Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” (ESV-English Standard Version)

I find myself in human form today and every day. There sure is a lot in this world that I don’t like and it appears to be closing in on me more every day. Romans 12:2 says “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” (ESV)

Ok, I’m back, I got distracted again…I almost signed up for a conference that was only minimally relevant to my career, but decided to add myself to the newsletter instead. I’ll regret that later when I hear from them more than I do my own mother.

Help me God to renew my mind with You and what You care about. Lord help me…
